1. INCOME GENERATING ACTIVITIES:
The BPL families need external support for their economic development. These families would be able to access various Government Schemes at the State & Center level and should also get access to credit & subsidies. This should be an on-going and long term activity.
Presently it is planned that 2000 families would be provided with milching buffaloes in coordination with Rajrambapu Milk Union and SDCC Bank.
2. PROMOTION OF SELF HELP GROUPS OF BPL WOMEN:
The programme aims to bring almost 5000 families under SHG activity. Within next two years 400 women’s SHGs will be promoted and linked with banks and SGSY scheme. At present 430 such SHGs are promoted and these would be benefited with Central Government's SGSY scheme.
3. HEALTH SERVICES TO BPL FAMILIES:
Due to financial crunch health remains grossly neglected for members in the BPL families. They are also not aware about the available public health services. The programme aims to motivate such people access these facilities. Two Ambulances are made available to provide emergency services to the people.
By 31st October 2007 totally 323 patients have been provided Ambulance services and 287 patients are provided health services available with Government Hospitals & private charitable hospitals in & outside the district.
4. PROMOTION OF SELF EMPLOYMENT ACTIVITIES:
The Cluster level Organizers under Campaign support BPL families based on their needs to avail credit and subsidies under various Government schemes. Mainly the youth are motivated and supported through DIC, KVIC, Corporations etc.
Certain self employment promotional trainings on Agarbatti rolling for women & self employment motivational trainings jointly for youth, women & small farmers were organised in which 1500 people from BPL category participated.
By 31st October 2007 totally 50 persons have promoted self employment units through the financial support received under various Government Schemes.
5. PROMOTION OF COTTAGE INDUSTRIES:
It is planned to promote Agarbatti making activity covering 5000 women from 10 clusters of the block. The basic training or agarbatti rolling has been conducted in coordination with Mysore based Private Company. At present one such unit has been initiated at Rajaramnagar with an objective to provide regular subsidiary income source for 200 BPL families.
The ‘Daridrya Nirmulan Abhiyan’ (Poverty Eradication Campaign) is one of the ambitious and earnest initiatives taken by Mr. Jayant Patil. Founded on his immense experience and energetic leadership, this Campaign is all set to move towards its goal.
The survey carried out in the initial stage of the programme reveals the concerns, needs & expectations of the families living under poverty line. Education, unemployment, health hazards, housing & lack of assured income sources are expressed as the major prevailing issues. Based on available data a long term strategic plan is being made ensuring active participation of target communities at every stage of its planning and execution.
The Campaign attempts to support individual families with regards to their verifying needs, problems & expectations.
Jayant Poverty Eradiation Campaign (JPEC) is planned for Walwa & Miraj block of Sangli district of Maharashtra, to cover 105 villages with 4.60 lacs population. There are 11 revenue clusters covering 8 to 12 villages and an average BPL families being 1500 families in each cluster. Under the Campaign totally totally 12300 BPL families are to be covered. The average population of these villages ranges from 1500 to 10000. The numbers of BPL families vary from village to village depending on the size of the respective village.
To implement the Campaign activities in planned way, the area is divided in 11 clusters. The Cluster Organizer who is full time worker under Campaign is directly responsible for the activities in respective cluster. Totally 11 such Organizers are appointed in 11 rural clusters. Based on socio-economic survey of BPL families an Action Plan has been outlined which guides to lead the Campign in proper direction.
An in-depth Socio-economic survey of 12300 BPL families have been completed. Based on the computerised survey data following is a data analysis report which helps to take further steps.Data Analysis Report:
